I have to take a minute to share a proud moment I had as a mother the other day. Gabe went to gymnastics camp for a week with some of his buddies. They had a great time! One of the days was a fellow camper's birthday. She brought cupcakes. I didn't know anything about this ahead of time. So, that day while Gabe is at camp, I get a phone call from the teacher. She said Gabe wouldn't eat a cupcake because he said he's allergic to gluten. She couldn't find his medical sheet, so she called me to confirm. I told her that he was right and not to give him the cupcake. I pictured him watching everyone else eat the treat and my heart broke. I wished I had been warned so I could send a cupcake with him. When I picked him up that afternoon, he didn't even mention it. Later, I asked him about it. I asked if they had another treat for him, and he said no. So, we went out for Frosty's. To top it off, when we got home with the Frosty, Gabe sat down and shared his treat with Grace without a single complaint or trace of stinginess. I was so proud that, one, he knew he couldn't have the cupcake and, two, that he was brave enough to speak up and resist the treat that everyone else was eating and, three, that he shared his special treat with his little sister. My heart just about burst. You're amazing, Gabe!
