One hand in the air for the big city

Erik gave me the funnest Christmas suprise to date by taking me to New York. I haven't been back since we moved away over 6 years ago, so a trip has been on my list for a while. He told me we were going to Boston and that I couldn't bring the kids. His excuse was that we needed to spend time with his mom (who is going through chemo) and attend his company party, so the kids needed to stay home. Sly. The morning I was to meet him at the airport, he called and spilled the beans. He was worried I wouldn't pack the right stuff so he wanted to give me a few hours notice. I actually started crying. Hey, I'm pregnant and I was excited. So, here's some highlights of the trip.

Funny how most of the trip was planned around food. I'm happy to report that the food was just as good as it was in my memory - at all our favorite restaurants.

Times Square - not a place we frequented too often unless we had visitors, but our hotel was just a few blocks away and we figured since we were tourists instead of locals we should take a picture.

Now THAT's a big one.

We worked in the building with the pyramid on top. Ground Zero didn't feel too different - still a big construction site. There were a couple of new buildings. It was very surreal to walk our old routes around that area.

In the atrium of the Amex building. So many memories there!

Our apartment building. We walked in the lobby and the same doorman was still working there. Amazing.

Oooooh, heaven. Thank you, Grimaldi's, for not changing a thing.

Erik making his famous picture face in Central Park.

Where it all began - Erik's first apartment in the city.

What's Christmas in New York without seeing the Nutcracker?! I didn't get a picture, but we also saw an off Broadway production of the Screwtape Letters that was fabulous.

Photobucket

Cafe Lalo. I have a picture of us sitting there the first time I visited Erik in the city. Seems like forever ago, but at the same time it could have been yesterday.

The kids got pj's from Chinatown.

What an amazing gift. It was a perfect trip! Thank you honey :o)
