Whenever we want to cook something new, we invite friends over to try it out on. This time, it was dutch oven cooking. Erik is p.u.m.p.e.d. to go camping this year (I'm thrilled, as well...doing somersaults as I type) and bought 2 dutch ovens and a couple of cookbooks. We figured we'd test them out at home first.

Serving up some buttermilk pie (gluten free, Laci!) and chocolate cake. Our main dishes were: 7up chicken, Bitter Creek Bake (a taco casserole) and Night Ryder's Supper (potatoes, ham, peppers, and just about anything else you can think of). We decided it was a success.
Our guinea pigs: The Mendenhalls (although they brought the 7up chicken and chocolate cake - they're dutch oven pros already!), the Harmons, and Dave.
The verdict: chocolate cake is yummy!
